Who are we?

We are an arm of Sunrise PDX, a youth-led climate action group based in Oregon.  We fight for forests through:

  • Education

  • Political Involvement 

  • Protest

Our Goal

We envision a future where forests are valued as ecological communities and for the countless benefits they provide our planet.


We cannot  allow our forests and communities to be sacrificed for corporate greed.

 

Forests Need to be at the Forefront of Climate Change Mitigation

The bigger trees get, the more carbon dioxide they pull in from the atmosphere. By its 100th birthday, a single Douglas fir can store 14 tons of carbon - that's equivalent to a car driving 35,100 miles.

PNW forests store more carbon than any other forest in the world. They provide:

  • Clean air and water

  • Food

  • Habitat

  • Cultural & spiritual significance

  • Recreation

But right now logging is one of the largest causes of carbon emissions in Oregon. Wall Street timber corporations transform bio-diverse forests into lifeless tree farms, which are clear cut every thirty years, releasing vast amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

We must end the exploitation of our forests. Our future depends on it.

Forest defense is climate defense.
